Divorce Lawyer
When you need a divorce lawyer, call Wilson Law Associates.
Facing a divorce can be one of the most difficult and emotional experiences in life. Our goal is to guide you through this process with understanding, clarity, and steady support. We are here to help you navigate every aspect of your case, including mediation, division of marital assets, child custody and support, alimony, and other related matters.
If you are considering filing for divorce in Tennessee, there are certain residency requirements to keep in mind. Generally, one of the parties must be a resident of the state. If the grounds for divorce occurred outside of Tennessee, at least one spouse must have lived in the state for six months prior to filing. For military personnel, a minimum of one year of residency is required.
Divorce filings are typically made in Chancery Court, and determining the proper county and timing can feel overwhelming. We help ensure everything is filed correctly—whether in the county where you and your spouse lived at separation, where your spouse currently resides, or where you reside—so you can focus on what matters most.
For those who are not ready to pursue a divorce, legal separation may be an option. The grounds are the same as for divorce, and the court can still address important issues such as child custody, visitation, support, and property division. Over time, if circumstances change, a legal separation can be converted into an absolute divorce.
Throughout this process, we are committed to protecting your interests while treating your situation with the care, respect, and attention it deserves.
